A morning wedding is unusual enough that people remember it. This one began at ten, on a working harbour, with the boats still coming in.

The practical case for it is strong: the light is better, the venue is cheaper, the suppliers are fresher, and nobody is tired by the speeches. The case against it is that guests need feeding properly, and early. We built the day around a long breakfast, then a lunch that ran until four.

The couple were on a boat by five, which was always the plan.
